Wes Boldt's ties to Orchard Place run deep. He was a mentor and a tutor for boys there, and now he's thrilled to give them more than his time.

"Orchard Place is, to a large extent, one of Des Moines' best kept secrets, and I want to get the word out," Wes says. "They do a great job. They're a remarkable foundation. Our society has a lot of disenfranchised kids, and Orchard Place helps them keep moving forward in a positive way."

Wes is leaving a gift to Orchard Place in his will. He thinks more people should be aware and hopes they will give, too.

"People don't know this is an opportunity they have, and we can help the kids who are struggling. We really make a difference and can leave a legacy that stands up for these kids," he says.

Orchard Place has been helping children for over 100 years, and with gifts from people like Wes, they can continue to support kids and the community.

"These kids are so great and if you just treat them with respect, you get more back than you give them. It's been a truly rewarding experience," he says.

Orchard Place is grateful for people like Wes.

"Wes is so good with the kids," says Nancy Bobo, vice president of development at Orchard Place.

"It's obvious that he has a warm place in his heart for them. Wes is not only generous with his time and concern. He has made sure that his legacy of caring will continue far into the future through his gift in his will. We are fortunate to have Wes and others like him standing strong with us as we strive to improve Iowa kids' lives."
